Brief Project Description:
The University of San Agustin invites interested parties to invest in the establishment of a Sports Academy.
Proponent: University of San Agustin
Proposed Site: University of San Agustin, Iloilo City
Scale and Content:
The project involves the establishment of a Sports Academy through (i) the construction of additional sports facilities in the University of San Agustin and (ii) improvement of existing facilities to cater to the program offerings on sports development. The Academy shall offer certificate courses and training programs in sports management and sports coaching, among others. It will provide training for coaches and athletes (individual and team sports), organize summer camps and sports clinics and provide a venue for sports stores and sports-related events.
Preferred modality: Open Investment
The project responds to the implementation of the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum particularly in the field of sports. The K-12 Basic Education Curriculum identified sports as one of the tracks for Senior High School students. The University of San Agustin already has some sports facilities like the gymnasium, open basketball court, tennis court, football field, and soon, an Olympic-size swimming pool. It has a pool of qualified faculty members and trainers. There are also many sports associations in Region VI and the Academy can forge partnerships with them.
The establishment of a Sports Academy in Iloilo City can respond to the needs of coaches and athletes not only from the City but also those coming from the entire Region VI. In addition, the City provides fiscal incentives to investors such as tax holidays and reduction of business tax.
