Proposed Site: Sunburst Park (Freedom Grandstand), Iloilo City

Scale and Content:

Sunburst Park was originally situated in the present location of the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand which occupies some 600 square meter and blocking the view of the majestic Bureau of Customs building. Along this line, the Freedom Grandstand will be relocated to the MuelleLoney facing the Iloilo River. The enhancement of the Sunburst Park will include among others a public park with amenities for food, service, outdoor recreation spaces and assembly area of varied type of people for interaction and socialization.

Preferred modality: Public-Private-Partnership

Present Condition:

Most businesses in Iloilo City are situated in the Central Business District where heritage structures are concentrated. In fact, the downtown area was declared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) as a heritage zone. In line with the conservation of the heritage zone, it found it wise and feasible by the City Government to revive the Sunburst Park into its former glory.
